• Manual Creation & Editing: Take complete control by manually creating your own steps, adding items later, or editing/fine-tuning the steps suggested by the AI at any time.

How do we use DRIFTLESS.WORK?

🔑 Google Gemini API Key to Use Our AI Features — Bring Your Own Key

DRIFTLESS.WORK is a client-side app that processes your data locally. To use our AI features (like Goal Deconstruction or Melting), get a free API key from Google AI Studio and save it in the Settings panel.

Obtain Your Free API Key after logging into your Google account:

💡 You can find the "Create API key" button in the top-right corner of Google AI Studio.

Save the Key in Settings:

💡 Paste the copied key into the input box under Google Gemini API Key in the Settings tab and click the "Save Key" button as shown in the image above.

🎯 Initiate a Goal — Add a challenging task & deconstruct it into small steps

Open the "Initiate Goal" tab and type your goal details.

Select **AI Deconstruct** (to let Gemini break it down) or **Manual Mode** (to write your own steps).

Click "Save Goal" to add the roadmap to your dashboard.

✅ Complete your small steps — One manageable step at a time

Go to the "My Goals" workspace and click a star on any step to set your focus point.

Click "Start Focus" on that step to trigger a distraction-free countdown timer.

Check off your completed steps to watch your progress and momentum grow!

• The 2-Minute Rule: If a step takes under 2 minutes, do it right now. Starting is the hardest part.
• Energy Matching: Feeling exhausted? Filter for "Low Energy" goals and build momentum with easy wins.
• Stuck? Melt it: If a high-energy goal feels overwhelming, use the AI "Melt" button to slice it into micro-steps.
• One Star, One Focus: When you have multiple goals to achieve, STAR the most important goal and set it as your priority goal at a time. Finish it, then move on to the next. Avoid multi-tasking overload.

Initiate Goal

Break down a challenging task into manageable micro-steps using AI or manual deconstruction

Step 1: Add a goal

Add a big goal that you want to break into small steps. This makes it look and feel easy, making it much easier to achieve at the end! (🎙️ Speak it using your keyboard's microphone icon).

Step 2: Decide a required energy level

How much energy do you think it would take to finish this big goal? Choose Low (tired/chill), Medium (standard), or High (ready for tough focus).

Step 3 (Optional): Add details

You can add any major small tasks, notes, or details about this big goal. (🎙️ Speak it using your keyboard's microphone icon).

Step 4: Decide your deconstruction mode to add small steps to your goal

Do you want AI to deconstruct your big goal or do you want to manually add your small steps to achieve the goal? You can always edit your small steps once a goal is added to My Goals--regardless which mode you choose here.
